Bells Surf Wax® exists to provide surfers across the globe with the #bestsurfwaxintheworld whilst inspiring teenagers with the best opportunity for them to Shred For Life.

Whilst we are a surf brand first and foremostly, we do exist to create a ripple effect across the planet and educate the worlds youth through face to face workshops, real life adventure experiences and real life opportunities through the Shred For Life online learning platform.

Originally founded in 2013 by Sam Ham, Bells Surf Wax® was brought to life. With Sam being a passionate surfer and local in Torquay it was something that he created for his children.

Time passed and with other responsibilities taking priority Sam realised it was time to hand over the reigns to someone who could expand his original vision further.

On the other side of the world after a recent career transition Brent Valle (BV) was tagged in a Facebook Post indicating that the business was for sale.

On the spot as a passionate surfer and resident in the neighbouring suburb of Jan Juc, Brent bought the business.

Brent said “I recognised straight away that Sam and I had similar values and personally I wanted to do good by Sam and also the entire surfing community in the region.”

But for Brent it had to more than just another product in the surf industry.

Surfing has done so much for me over my journey, as well as many others and thought that this iconic location and brand could be leveraged to create social change and empowerment with Australian youth, and eventually right across the world.

In a world where corporate greed quite often comes before passion Brent wanted this to be different so our collective mission is to empower youth and create an opportunity for board-riding clubs, schools & community groups to raise much-needed funds for their respective causes.

Shred For Life Formed – August 2018

It was always our fearless leaders vision to create positive change to inspire the youth of today to be legendary leaders tomorrow and the phrase which turned into an empowering program Shred For Life was created and born with an empowering line of merchandise.

Hannah Joins the Team – January 2021

Hannah reached out to Brent at the beginning of 2021 with a real desire to learn how to surf. What started out with a surfing lesson on the beach at Urquharts Bluff on the Surf Coast quickly turned into a passion for the ocean, and a commitment to learning how to surf. In a year Hannah has progressed quickly to becoming a surfer in her own right, and through conversations and adventures became part of Bells Surf Wax for a season. Brent says “It was important for me to be working alongside someone who is passionate about nature and seeing the next generation thrive. With a degree in business and an eye for design, Hannah’s passion had a profound impact on the brand during her time. If you see her at UrbnSurf or down the beach be sure to say hi because her energy is infectious.

Jai Joins the Team – September 2022

Jai has been surfing his entire life and it shows.  His rhythm and flow on a wave can be easily witnessed as he moves from rail to rail and he transfers that flow straight from the ocean to the land.  A yogi with a heart to serve and a keen eye for design in its most elegant and simple form, Jai leads the design team through his approach that transcends what you see as part of our brand’s look and feel.  With a background in design each of our pieces ensures that every asset of the brand whether it be the wax you rub on your board the garments that you wear all carry that minimalistic value that our brand stands for and the community that we care for so much.  Residing in Indonesia his love and dedication to the ocean, his indeginous roots and his craft is one that we can all aspire to.

Mav Joins the Team – December 2022

Maverick has been an integral part of Bells Surf Wax since the day Brent (Cuneyt) took over the brand. . Whether it is been providing moral support as his father went through a divorce, frothing out and providing ideas to the direction the brand could head in or even running up to Kelly Slater at the Rip Curl Pro in 2018 and giving him a block or bell of wax which lead to the greatest surfer of all time giving the brand a shout-out he has been there.  Now choosing to continue his studies in a remote capacity he is taking on the lead for the business and driving the business with support from those around him where it has always intended to go.  Maverick is an old soul with a wise mind and a cheeky sense of humour and his love for surfing is growing by the day.  He’s not really leading the charge, well not yet anyway however he is an integral part of the team so definitely say hello if you see him in and around the water.
